This book contains a collection of articles written by lecturers in a Language Teacher Training Institution. The work represents the area of expertise of the authors and showcase the range of field of knowledge involved in preparing for professional language teachers. A prospective language teacher should go through a learning process in the fields of Linguistics, Pedagogy, and professional development. This book provides valuable reading for students (who are preparing to be language teachers), educators and researchers. In the first part of the book, there are 6 articles written in the areas of Language Pedagogy, Literature, and Information Technology; the second part comprises 4 articles on assessment in English as a Foreign Language instructions; in part 3 there are 4 articles in Linguistics and Discourse Analysis; and finally, in part 5, there is an article on teachers’ professional development research. The majority of the articles are research-based so they can be treated as first hand references for further research in ‘teacher-related fields’.

About the author

has over 20 years of experience in Teaching English as

a Foreign Language to diverse age groups. She earned her bachelor degree in

TEFL in 1987 from Udayana University, Bali. In 1994 she earned her Master

of Arts in Applied Linguistics from La Trobe University, Melbourne. In

2006, she earned her PhD in English Education from Newcastle University,

Australia. She is now a lecturer at the English Education Department, the

Faculty of Language and Art Education, Ganesha University of Education.

Her major interests are in English as a Foreign language Pedagogy, Bilingual

Education, and Curriculum Development.

Anak Agung Istri Ngurah Marhaeni is a professor of education at

the English Education Department, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. She

earned her master degree from Ohio State University and doctoral degree

in Educational Research and Evaluation from Jakarta State University. Her

research interests include language teaching assessment, curriculum, and

instruction. She has published several articles and books in assessment.

Ni Nyoman Padmadewi is a professor in English Education at

Ganesha University of Education Bali Indonesia who has over 20 years of

experience in teaching English to different groups of students. She finished

her education and got bachelor and doctorate degree in Udayana University,

and earned her master degree in Macquarie Univeristy Australia. She is

also a director of a learning centre, and a founder of bilingual schools.

Her major interests are in literacy for young learners, innovative teaching

methodology, and also special education.

Ni Made Ratminingsih has taught in English Education Department

of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha since 1991. Her teaching career has

been started since she completed her study from SPG Singaraja, a Teacher

Training Secondary School. She accomplished her Bachelor degree in

Teaching English from Udayana University in 1990. She holds a Masters

degree in English Language Teaching from Deakin University, Australia in

1997 and a Doctor degree in language teaching specializing in TEYL from

Jakarta State University, Indonesia in 2011. Her research interests are ELT

methods/strategies, curriculum and material development, teaching media,

and TEYL.

I Putu Indra Kusuma is a lecturer and a researcher at Universitas

Pendidikan Ganesha. He has been teaching since 2011 while conducting his

research. His interests are in curriculum and instructions. Thus, his research

and publications are all about those areas. Moreover, he has two books

about language assessments which he wrote along with other colleagues at

Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha and were published by different publishers.

He hopes he can write more books about English education in the future.

Kadek Sonia Piscayanti was born in Singaraja, Bali, on March 4,

1984. She is now teaching in English Education Department, Ganesha

University of Education. She teaches literature such as poetry, prose fiction

and drama. She has published some books such as Karena Saya Ingin Berlari

(Akar Indonesia, Yogyakarta, 2007), Literature book “Literature is Fun”

(Pustaka Ekspresi, 2012), a compilation of five scripts “The Story of A

Tree” (Mahima Institute Indonesia, 2014). She was invited as speaker in

Ubud Writers and Readers Festival in 2012 and 2013. She was also invited

for Creative Writing Program at Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia

(2011 and 2012). She has spoken about women and identity in OzAsia

Festival, Adelaide Australia (2013). She directed and performed her own

script “Layonsari” in Netherlands and France for Culture Grant from

Directorate of Higher Education Indonesia (2014). She has also published

a book on drama, The Art of Drama, The Art of Life (Graha Ilmu, 2014).

Her stories anthology “A Woman Without A Name” (Mahima Institute

Indonesia, 2015) won Widya Pataka a literature award from Bali Province.

Her earliest work is Burning Hair poems anthology published by Mahima

Institute Indonesia (2017).
