The Dragon Blood Collection, Books 1-3: An Epic Fantasy Series

Interesting blend of steam punk style technology and magic with an unfortunate amount of romance. Not that I object to a little romance, but it seems that Lindsay Buroker can't decide whether to write action adventure or romance and ends up doing the combination poorly. Writing drags a bit at times, but concept kept me slogging through. After reading Buroker's "these are stand alone novels" spiel, I was disappointed to find typical cliffhanger endings for each book. Yes, the cliffhangers are in the Epilogues, but they are still cliffhangers. Truly miss authors who put in the effort to make a story so compelling that I want to know more about the characters and their adventures. Modern authors just use cheap tricks to keep us buying books without giving us a well rounded novel to read.

Love!!!! I had no idea who the author was before starting this series. I figured it seemed interesting and might as well try it. I easily got sucked in and couldn't stop. The way she writes flows well and is a great read. After this, I went on to purchase one series after another devouring all of them. Loving all of them differently. I know she writes romance novels under a different pen name and normally that isn't my thing but I plan on reading those as well.

I found them quite gripping to read and am keen to read more. There will be those who will be critical of the books and the writing, but I doubt they read books for relaxation and escapeism, and I suspect that they may be better educated than I, but of a lower IQ. The ability to read and enjoy books without looking for faults from the author, of any type, is something critics never seem to have, this leads them to dump on writers for the wrong reasons.
