Après un passage aux Arts appliqués, Luc Jacamon fait ses premières armes dans la publicité. C’est en 1998 qu’il créé avec Matz, le personnage du Tueur. Le premier opus de la série, Long feu impose cet univers radical, dans lequel le lecteur entre de plein pied dans le quotidien d’un tueur professionnel, méthodique et consciencieux.
Scénariste, traducteur, consultant pour le jeu vidéo, Matz publie son premier album, Bayou Joey, avec Jean-Christophe Chauzy au dessin. Trois ans plus tard, Peines perdues est nommé dans la catégorie Meilleur album à Angoulême. En 1998, il lance Le Tueur, avec Luc Jacamon. Toujours chez Casterman, il publie encore Du Plomb dans la tête avec Colin Wilson et Le Dahlia noir, d’après Ellroy dessiné par Miles Hyman.
