About the author

Lai-Chang Zhang is a Professor of Materials Engineering, the Program Leader–Mechanical Engineering and the Head of Centre for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing in the School of Engineering at Edith Cowan University (Perth, Australia). After awarded his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Zhang held several positions at The University of Western Australian, University of Wollongong, IFW Dresden and Technical University Darmstadt. His research interests include metal additive manufacturing, metallic biomaterials, lightweight alloys & structures, and high-strength alloys and composites. He is a Highly Cited Researcher in the field of Materials Science, with an H-index of 81 and more than 24,000 citations. He also serves as (Associate) Editors or Editorial Board Members for more than 10 journals, e.g., International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing, Advanced Engineering Materials, Acta Metallurgica Sinica (English Letters), Advanced Powder Materials, etc.
