Unter dem Schwerpunktthema "Infrastrukturbau" behandelt der Beton-Kalender in mehreren Beiträgen Planung und Entwurf von baulichen Anlagen der Verkehrsinfrastruktur, wie z. B. Bahnhöfe. Die konstruktiven Anforderungen und planerischen Grundsätze werden eingehend erläutert. Die spezifischen Anforderungen unter Berücksichtigung der gesellschaftlichen oder sogar politischen Bedeutung solcher Projekte werden in einem gesonderten Kapitel über stoß- und explosionsgefährdete Bauelemente behandelt. Dabei werden zum notwendigen Verständnis auch die außergewöhnlichen Lasteinwirkungen nach Eurocode 1 behandelt.
Die ETAG-Zulassungsverfahren für Befestigungsmittel und die Bemessung von Verankerungen auf Basis der CEN/TS werden im Zusammenhang mit der Anwendung des Eurocode 2 anhand von Hintergrundinformationen erläutert.
Im Jahr der bauaufsichtlichen Einführung der Eurocodes enthält der Beton-Kalender verlässliche Kommentare zum Eurocode 2 und den Nationalen Anhängen für Deutschland und Österreich.Eine konsolidierte deutsche Kurzfassung des Eurocode 2 (DIN 1992-1-1 mit NA) mit allen Regelungen für Bauteile und Bauwerke aus Beton- und Stahlbeton wurde speziell für den Beton-Kalender 2012 erarbeitet, damit den Planern, Bauausführenden und Behörden ein praxistaugliches Nachschlagewerk erstmalig zur Verfügung steht.

Professor Dipl.-Ing. DDr. Konrad Bergmeister is a professor at the Institute of Structural Engineering of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, Austria, and has managed an engineering consultancy since 1990. He is also chief editor of the journal "Beton- und Stahlbetonbau" (Concrete and Reinforced Concrete Structures) published by Ernst & Sohn.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr. h. c. Johann-Dietrich Wörner has been Professor for Structural Analysis at the Technical University of Darmstadt since 1995 and was the university's president until 2007. Since 2007 he has been chairman of the board of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) .
Dr.-Ing. Frank Fingerloos is responsible for the construction technology section of the Deutscher Beton- und Bautechnik-Verein E. V. (DBV). Since 2008 he has been lecturing on concrete construction at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. As a member of DIN's standardization committee for construction (NABau) he has been actively engaged with regard to DIN 1045 and Eurocode 2.
All the authors for the concrete yearbook are always chosen for their close practical experience in their respective subjects.
