Konflikte, Krisen und Kriege beherrschen zunehmend den öffentlichen Diskurs. Auch Autor*innen reagieren engagiert auf die Veränderungen in der globalen Welt und binden die Geschehnisse in Fiktionen ein. Ihre Funktion besteht nicht nur in der Archivierung von Gegenwart, sondern auch in der Gestaltung zukünftiger Weltentwürfe. In diesem Band finden sich literarische Darstellungen der gegenwärtig ausgetragenen Kriege, der aktuellen Flucht- und Migrationswellen, der nahenden Klimakatastrophe und der immer akuter werdenden Abhängigkeitsverhältnisse des modernen Menschen. Den Band beschließen Gespräche mit Katja Petrowskaja, Robert Prosser, Dorothea Dieckmann, Markus Stromiedel und Marko Martin über Tabus, Identitäten, Kriege, Migrationen und den damit verbundenen Drang, die Gegenwart in Worte zu fassen. Conflicts, crises and wars are increasingly dominating the public discourse. Even authors are actively reacting to the changes in the global world and incorporating the events into fictions. Their function consists not only in archiving the present, but also in designing future world concepts. This volume includes works on current wars, current flight and migration waves, the threatening climate crisis and the increasingly acute dependency of modern people. The volume ends with conversations with Katja Petrowskaja, Robert Prosser, Dorothea Dieckmann, Markus Stromiedel and Marko Martin on taboos, identities, wars, migrations and the associated urge to put the present into words.

Prof. Dr. Monika Wolting ist ordentliche Professorin am Germanistischen Institut der Universität Wrocław, Polen, Sprecherin des Internationalen Christa-Wolfs-Zentrums und stellvertretende Präsidentin der Goethe Gesellschaft-Polen sowie der Grass-Gesellschaft in Danzig. 2020 erhielt sie die Auszeichnung der Bundesrepublik Deutschland ›Verdiente Versöhner‹.
