Wo christliche Gemeinden und Organisationen in eine Diasporasituation geraten, liegt es nahe, Kirchenentwicklung unter missionarischem Vorzeichen zu betreiben. Was aber bedeutet der Programmbegriff missionarischen Kirchenentwicklung? Welche Horizonte und theologischen Implikationen, welche Potentiale und Herausforderungen verbinden sich mit ihm? Church Development in a Missionary Perspective] Where Christian congregations and organizations find themselves in a diaspora situation, it is natural to pursue church development with a missionary approach. But what is the meaning of the programmatic concept of missionary church development? Starting out from a concept of mission, which understands itself as a concept of crisis and reform, various current concepts and their theological backgrounds are explored. A wide range of fields of practice is thereby brought into focus – from the ecumenism of mission to innovative forms of congregation. Especially the secular and intercultural contexts of the contemporary churches are taken into account. The volume offers important contributions by renowned authors on the future of a church which is seeking its way in changing social and religious-cultural conditions.
