About the author

Judith Mengler is a research assistant within the research unit "Historical Cultural Sciences" at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany. She studied History and Classical Archaeology in Mainz. Her research interests are medieval medicine and surgery, body history, and historical practices of inclusion and exclusion in earlier periods. Kristina Müller-Bongard is a research assistant and the coordinator of the research unit Historical Cultural Sciences, Mainz. She studied art history and cultural anthropology at Mainz University. Her research interests are counter-reformation art, political iconography and early modern art literature.
