It's easy to dismiss McCandless' tale or to see it purely as a tragedy. Krakauer has managed to capture something more here that really chimed with me. Maybe because like so many young men, I see parallels in our lives and ask the same questions, but I think Krakauer manages to go to the heart of some of the challenges of our times. Chris' journey is epic and foolish to many, but no one can deny that his was a life richly lived. My heart goes out to his family but he has left something that matters.

An amazing adventurous true story which gives you the insight of what ultimate freedom is and beckons to think about our socially build up culture of insanity. It changed the perspective of my life☺

Large chunk of content are referred from the books the character read. Initial chapters are very adorable but it loses its grasp later on.

Jon Krakauer is a mountaineer and the author of Eiger Dreams, Into the Wild, (which was on the New York Times bestseller list for over a year and was made into a film starring Emile Hirsch and Kristen Stewart) Into Thin Air, Iceland, Under the Banner of Heaven and Where Men Win Glory. He is also the editor of the Modern Library Exploration series.
