Sydney, 1869. A stable goes up in flames. A former Scotland Yard detective is found dead. And Petunia Barclay’s name is the next one whispered in the shadows.
Armed with only a cryptic letter from her late father, Petunia races to uncover the truth before more lives are lost. But someone is desperate to keep the past buried—and they’ll stop at nothing to silence her.
Fans of richly atmospheric Victorian mysteries, strong female sleuths, and slow-burn romance will love this gripping conclusion to the Sisters of Barclay Square trilogy.
Over a long and happy life I’ve been a magazine and newspaper editor, a health products entrepreneur and a devoted step-mother and step-grandmother. But I’m as surprised as anyone to have completed fifteen mysteries, and posted over 300 episodes on my popular fiction podcast, The Joys of Binge Reading. It’s in recess at present, but there are 300 different authors from all over the world there, telling their stories.
When I started out writing, I planned a trilogy about three brothers in post-Gold Rush California. That series – Of Gold & Blood, – grew to ten books, and I’ve just kept going. Home At Last followed, and now I’ve embarked on a new historical series set in Sydney. Posey’s Peril, #2 in the Sisters of Barclay Square series is just out and I’m already working on Book 3, Petunia’s Promise.
I’m a Kiwi, delighting in my garden and my beehives in coastal Auckland. From my peaceful little kingdom, I love to think of readers around the world putting aside the day’s cares, relaxing with a glass of wine or a cup of tea in hand and visiting long-forgotten places and making fabulous new friends in my books.
