Police detective Kat Donovan is having a drink with her attractive friend Stacy, a private investigator. Stacy tells Kat that she signed her up on an online dating website, YouAreJustMyType.com.

Kat goes home to her Manhattan apartment and logs into the website. She wants to date guys who are not cops. Her grandfather was a cop who cheated on her grandmother until she died. Riddled by guilt, he killed himself. Her father, also a cop, would take off for days at a time.

She looks through the profile photos until, suddenly, she finds a photo of her ex-fiancé, Jeff, who broke up with her eighteen years ago. He is now a widower with one child, and his user name is Jack.

Chapter 2

Gerard Remington had planned the perfect proposal for his girlfriend, Vanessa Moreau. They would fly out to a villa in St. Marteen, he would get down on his knees and give her a diamond ring.

It never happened. Gerard wakes in a dark place with his hands and feet bound together. It feels damp and full of earthy smells. When he hears footsteps above him and realizes he is underground, he starts to scream...
