About the author

Iman Rahimi, Ph.D., is a data scientist and optimization expert with a robust background in mathematics and industrial engineering. He holds dual Ph.D.s: one in Industrial Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia and another in Computer Science from the University of Technology Sydney. His expertise includes machine learning, evolutionary algorithms, and large-scale optimization, with applications in renewable energy, supply chain management, and computational intelligence. Dr. Rahimi has received several prestigious international awards and actively serves as a reviewer for leading journals. His research contributions are widely published in high-impact journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing data-driven decision-making and AI-driven optimization.

Amir H. Gandomi is recognized as one of the world’s most cited researchers in the fields of global optimization and big data analytics, particularly for his work using machine learning and evolutionary computations. He is an ARC DECRA fellow at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney, where he serves as a professor of Data Science. He has received multiple prestigious awards for his research excellence and impact, including the 2024 IEEE TCSC Award for Excellence in Scalable Computing (MCR), the 2023 Achenbach Medal (awarded at Stanford University), and the 2022 Walter L. Huber Prize, which is the highest-level mid-career research award in all areas of civil engineering. Amir has published over 450 journal papers and 14 books. He has been named one of the world’s most influential scientific minds and highly cited researchers by Clarivate Analytics for six consecutive years.

Miadreza Shafie-Khah is a full professor and the scientific director of the Energy Business eMBA program at the University of Vaasa Executive Education in Vaasa, Finland. He also leads a team at the Research and Innovation Division of Nowocert in Dublin, Ireland. He has served as Editor-in-Chief and associate editor for several IEEE Transactions and journals. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of several international and EU projects, and he was ranked as the number one "Rising Star of Science" in Finland for 2022–2024. Prof. Shafie-Khah has published over 550 scientific articles and he has received five Best Paper Awards at IEEE Conferences and five highly cited papers recognized by ISI Web of Science.

Abdollah Ahmadi is the energy optimization lead at Ampol Australia. As a renewable energy scholar, he has published more than 85 international journal papers and book chapters. His research focuses on the applications of novel energy storage technologies in renewable energy-integrated electric power systems and virtual power plants (VPP) for large-scale and distribution grids in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
