And it is not just the waters of Door County that carry the freight of haunted tales—Country Road T has its share of spooks, bizarre beasts have caused disturbances in the woods, and there are whispered rumors that infamous gangster Al Capone added to the county's stock of ghosts through a handful of brutal murders, including an ex-girlfriend and two unacknowledged children . . .

Gayle Soucek is an author and freelance editor, with several books and numerous magazine articles to her credit, including Door County: Shipwrecks, Cherries and Goats on the Roof and Chicago Calamities: Disaster in the Windy City, both books published by The History Press. Gayle and her photographer husband divide their time between their home in a Chicago suburb and their second home in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin.
