About this ebook

There are an estimated 4,300 religions in the world according to the Internet. Most of these religions are local sects of “folk religions” and shamanism. But most of the global population adheres to just a few major religions: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. These account for nearly three-quarters of the world's population.

More than half of the world’s population worship the God of the Bible: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. These are known as “Abrahamic” religions and descend from the prophet, Abraham. Nearly every religion has a deity. The Abrahamic religions are monotheistic, meaning that they worship one God. Others worship either no god or many gods.

This book is intended to provide a fair introduction to the major religions, but where any bias is shown, it will be toward the author’s faith: Abrahamic and Christian.
