Wow! As much as I anticipated this book, I wasn’t prepared for it to consume me as it did. I could not put it down. As a true crime junkie myself, I quickly fell in love with Delilah. She was tough, clever, and fiercely determined to find justice for a missing girl. She also had the type of snark about her that I could totally connect with as it highlighted a lighter side to her. I usually don’t put a lot of weight on the heroine but Delilah won me over within a few pages. Archer had a heart of ice and it’s evident in the way he approaches life, on the outside. However, on the inside he’s a completely different man. The problem is that no one will ever know that. It’s not long before Delilah begins to melt his walls and frees his heart. Such a wonderful process that I couldn’t get enough of. As always, I loved the jealous, protective and possessive traits that ran through this hero. Archer’s need to protect her at any cost was a fiery need in his soul. ”No one touches her but me. Delilah is mine, and she’s staying mine. And if anyone wants to threaten her?” He leaned in close once more, He wanted this message received, understood, and taken to the grave. “They will have to go through me.” ”I will fight for her. Make no mistake about that. I will fight harder for Delilah than I have ever fought for anything in my life.” I loved the introduction of new characters and all of them, whether fun and engaging or dark and broken, were relatable in every way. This has the perfect mix of humor, romance, and sizzling intensity all wrapped up in layers of suspense that had me turning the pages as quickly as I could. I hate being that reader that demands the next book as soon as I turn the last page, but it’s true and Ms. Eden has no one but herself to blame.
