But recently, he’s been starting to wonder if the experiment might have had a few more sinister side-effects. For example, the way he keeps hallucinating video game characters trying to kill him...

All his life, Patrick Thompson has been inspired by the rolling landscape of tarmac, low-rise concrete slabs and bread queues that is Dudley. He has written for as long as he can remember. Monitor Light is his second published novel, following his debut, Seeing the Wires.
