About this eBook

Eighty-Seven Castle Lane. A decrepit and dilapidated house in the middle of nowhere.

Sam, its custodian, is responsible for its upkeep, a task he carries out alongside three others: a man named Depression, a woman named Anxiety, and another man named Self-Loathing. Together, they have set themselves to mend the disrepair that plagues it. That is until, one day, a knock at the door changes everything.

What lays behind that door sees Sam drawn away from Eighty-Seven Castle Lane, and Depression, Anxiety and Self-Loathing sent into a lonesome panic. Refusing to let Sam disappear without a fight, Depression, Anxiety and Self-Loathing get increasingly desperate in their increasingly absurd attempts to drag Sam back to their derelict home.

But as Eighty-Seven Castle Lane begins to crumble around them, and the distance between Sam and the three of them grows, they are forced to confront who, and why, they are. If they don’t, it could cost all of them their lives.

In this amusing allegory, Jimmy R. Webb combines absurdism and black comedy to warmly yet unwaveringly explore alienation, psychological breakdown, and the internal world of the mentally ill.

I love how the author uses physical manifestations of mental illnesses. There are some grammar problems, but the storytelling is amazing that I can deal with the mistakes.
