Plants and microbes interact in a complex relationship that can have both harmful and beneficial impacts on both plant and microbial communities. Francis Martin is the Head of the Ecogenomics of Interactions Laboratory at the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA).

Sophien Kamoun is Senior Scientist and Head of the Sainsbury Laboratory and Honorary Professor at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom.
