About the author

As a marine biologist, shark scientist and ‘Public Relations Manager’ for sharks and other predators, Dr. Charlotte Birkmanis spends lots of time at sea. Her research has taken her to 40+ countries to explore the secret lives of sharks. An award-winning science communicator, broadcast host, speaker and educator, Charlotte shares fun facts in English and Mandarin Chinese about co-existing with wildlife. An Australian STEM Ambassador, her work is widely published in scientific literature, but you might have seen it in your favourite show!

Josie Montano is an award-winning author with over 20 years experience and 60 resources internationally published within a variety of genres. She’s also written and produced an award winning short film. As a storyteller she strives to advocate and give a voice to those who aren’t able to, including Lulu the shark.

Carla is a children’s book illustrator, residing in Sydney. She grew up in Johannesburg and lived in NYC. She is passionate about bringing joy to the world through optimistic and imaginative illustrations. Carla loves the beach, swimming, snorkelling and exploring local rock pools. Carla is always working on her next children’s book project.
