Hock is hired by the son of the mayor of the city to investigate a woman who is suspected of being a threat to the political ambitions of his father. Shydra, one of these, proves especially infuriating and distracting. With the help of the police and a crime boss in the city Hock doggedly follows the twists and turns of his inquiry as it moves towards its surprising conclusion.
