About this ebook

Ink-Smudged Dreams- by the Reading Light’ is a collection of poems. Poems that reflect the many facets of my life: maybe any woman’s life. Certain moments, fleeting experiences, lasting impressions, unknown anxieties, silly apprehensions, humble realization, intense joys and every hurt felt; these are the poems’ moods . And above all a growing perception that life is not about tomorrow: it is about today. But all these are not my consciously addressed ideas. Each day, they have gently enfolded me. Then in the quiet of the night, I would sit down and pour my heart out on paper. Drowsy, blurred, and very close to my heart. These are those ink-smudged dreams by the reading light. - DEBALEENA MUKHERJEE

So many of the poems in Debaleena’s book reflect my own life experiences, and encourage us to be kinder to ourselves. Her writing also touches on the damage done to our world today - but offers the promise of future healing. But my absolute favourite poem of all was The Dyer - it just flows - one of the most beautiful, spiritual pieces of writing I have ever read. It will stay with me forever - thank you.

Hi Debaleena, no other form of writing expresses & creates imagery quite like your poetry. You have selected words according to their meanings and arranged them on a page to create a rhythm & tempo for your readers. All the best for your future endeavours, don't stop here, long way to go.

Debaleena Mukherjee's book - "Ink Smudged Dreams- by the Reading Light" cannot be termed as a mere book. It is an assortment of the many beautiful moments of life which the author has decorated within the pages of the book. The poems are the treasured moments that have been lived and felt by the author and when she pours it on the pages the reader is also led to live and feel the same excitement or pain in the moments that flash before your eyes. It sometimes brings a smile to your face or a tear to your eye and at times takes your thoughts to an unknown you have never known before. The different sections within the book are quite well woven into the different stories they tell. 'The Hymn to the Earth' beautifully adorns nature...'A Prayer' puts forward a wish...'The Girl' reflects the prejudices that have already been carved in our minds while 'The Woman' is a shout out to the inner voice in a woman...'Tears and Smile' take you through the journey of life...'Of Love' gives you the deep perspective of love that often remains hidden...'By the Reading Light' is more of a reflection and finally the 'Ink-smudged Dreams' induces a fresh breath of air into our lives Simply put, the book is happiness bound in a cover...life lessons that will compel you to keep coming back.
