Wending through routes laid forth in Kull’s visions, the retinue followed the king, wary of his dark melancholy, and the evil power said to be close at hand. A caution well-founded, for arriving at the site of Kull’s former Atlantean home, they discovered no dark tower but instead a vast orifice of devastation: a screaming abyss leading deep into the Earth’s bowels, knowing too that this is where they must go…
