Was leistet Kinder- und Jugendliteratur (KJL) im 21. Jahrhundert? Welche Stoffe und Themen greift sie auf? Und welche Darstellungsformen nutzt sie? Diesen und weiteren Fragen zum Handlungs- und Symbolsystem KJL wendet sich der vorliegende Band zu, der im ersten Teil theoretische Überlegungen zu aktuellen Entwicklungen und Tendenzen in der KJL entwickelt. Die Beiträge im zweiten Teil gehen ausgewählten Romanen analytisch auf den Grund. Ihr Anliegen ist es, über die Auseinandersetzung mit dem »Was« und »Wie« des Erzählens die Rolle der Texte in einer globalisierten Mediengesellschaft zu diskutieren. Der dritte Teil versammelt Beiträge zu Ehren von Prof. Dr. Benno Pubanz, der sich als Hochschullehrer, Präsident des Kulturbundes und Initiator des Umweltpreises für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur in besonderem Maße um die Literatur für junge Leser verdient gemacht hat. What does children's and young adult's literature offer in the 21st century? What themes and subjects does it concentrate on? And what kind of representation forms does it use? The present volume explores these and other questions on the meaning of children's and young adult's literature. The contributions in the first part of the volume focus on theoretical reflections on contemporary developments and movements in children's and young adult's literature. The contributions in the second part analyse selected novels. It aims at discussing the role of texts in a globalised media society by examining the "what" and "how" of narratives. The third part includes contributions in honour of Prof Dr Benno Pubanz, who, as a university lecturer, president of the "Kulturbund" (Cultural Association) and initiator of the "Umweltpreis für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur" (Environment prize for children's and young adult's literature) has rendered outstanding services to literature for young readers.
About the author
Prof. Dr. Carsten Gansel lehrt Neuere deutsche Literatur und Germanistische Literatur- und Mediendidaktik an der Universität Gießen. Er ist zudem Vorsitzender der Jury zur Verleihung des Uwe-Johnson-Literaturpreises sowie des Uwe-Johnson-Förderpreises und Mitglied des P.E.N.-Zentrums Deutschland. 2012 wurde er für den Diefenbaker Award (Canada) nominiert.
