La pitiriasi lichenoide (PL) è una rara dermatosi di origine sconosciuta ad andamento acuto o cronico ed evoluzione favorevole e autolimitante nella stragrande maggioranza dei casi. Attualmente, con il termine PL si intende un ampio spettro di manifestazioni clinico-patologiche, caratterizzato da forme acute e vescicolose e talvolta ulcerative e da forme ad andamento cronico di tipo papulo-desquamativo e lichenoide. L’eziopatogenesi è controversa, sebbene si tenda a considerare la malattia come una reazione immuno-mediata di tipo citotossico verso antigeni diversi, in particolare di natura virale.
