On Wings of an Avalanche, C.D. Gill's newest adventure in her Freedom's Cry line, ripples with tension, from impossible ethical conflicts to turbulent action sequences, and features a villain who is sometimes charming, sometimes loving, and always very dangerous. When the two main protagonists' stories finally converge, it's striking to realizing just how powerful the warlord they're facing truly is! Though international espionage and high-stakes adventure takes me way outside my normal comfort zone as a reader, this story is a tightly-plotted and satisfying read teeming with themes of social justice. Heartily recommended! Disclosure: I read a pre-publication edition of this novel courtesy of the author and publisher, and my opinions are my own!

Heart-pounding action and a deliciously diverse cast of characters, culture clashes, and corruption increase the intensity and unpredictability of the storyline and characters. Dr. Madison Cote is one brave, compassionate, and independent lady! She is a rockstar in her profession and literally changing and saving countless lives every day in rural Mali. Chip Chapman falls down a mountain and lands in the middle of a hot mess in Africa! His determination and compassion keep him moving forward and making the best of an unthinkable situation. Although there are only two main characters listed in the book blurb, the author's presentation of this story from multiple viewpoints, including complex secondary characters, creates an immersive and engaging reading experience. Once you pick this book up, you won't want to put it down and I highly recommend it! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review.
