About this ebook

A detective’s perfect vacation: sun, sand, surf… and murder.

When blind PI Steve Smiley visits his friend and writing mentor, Kate Bridges, he anticipates an idyllic South Padre Island getaway. The island's tranquil spell shatters when Kate's abusive ex-husband appears with violent threats. Two days later, his body is discovered half-buried in the windswept dunes, and Kate becomes the prime suspect.

As local authorities rush to close the case and arrest Kate, Steve's instincts tell him they've got it wrong. His investigation leads him through a labyrinth of lies, into a dark underworld of corrupt officials and dangerous cartel operatives who live by their own brutal code.

In a desperate gambit to prove Kate's innocence, Steve lays an intricate trap for the murderer. Navigating a world he cannot see but understands all too well, he must rely on his unique perception of truth to expose the killer—because if he fails, the next blood spilled across the pristine sands will surely be his own.

Recommend reading the prequel, Exercise is Murder first. 5* Murder In The Dunes, #4 - Difficult to put down with its steady pace, easy to read writing style and good characters and story lines. 5* Murder Down The Line, #6 - This is an enjoyable, entertaining series. I like the main characters, the well thought out story lines, and the processes to solve the crimes. Two crimes and a surprise made for a hard to put down read but the pages flew by rapidly.
