I only managed to finish this book by skipping pages. The plot is just too
much; it's drawn-out, far-fetched and complicated. It's also hard to
believe that the two main characters could build a life together, since
they constantly sway between love and hate for one another. And I really
don't like the female protagonist.

Jen Jones is a programmer that has a secret, other than the secret that she is in love with her boss David Jewell. Wen murder and mayhem nearly cost her her job and land her in jail who will rescue her? David Jewell is working on a big build that will net him enough money to look for his missing daughter that he thinks his deceased wife's parents have in the Philippines. When the build keeps breaking and there is a murder on his lot and many more things keep happening will he be able to accomplish this task? Broken build is a very different story than I am used to from Rachelle Ayala. I have to say I loved this side of her. I am a big fan of mystery/ suspense with a dash of romance. Throw in lots of twists and turns and you have me hooked. I liked all of the characters, The story-line and the love hate aspect of the romance. There are twists and turns everywhere and I never dreamed of how it would end. (Warning: There is some violence.) Charlie Ongel is one of my favorite female narrators. She does a great job of giving a voice to each character, even the men and adds excitement and drama to the already good book making it even greater. So, if you like, drama, mystery, suspense, chaos, don't mind some violence, love twists and turns, interoffice romance, love/hate relationships, this is for you!

Jen is a code writer for Dave's online company. He's trying to get the app written for the upcoming holidays. Jen is being blackmailed into giving code to her ex-fiance's brother. She doesn't give him the correct code. He ends up being murdered and Jen is being accused of killing him. She has a previous connection to Dave as his daughter's babysitter and his wife's best friend six years earlier. Dave's wife dies and then his daughter is kidnapped and hasn't been found. He blames the babysitter (Jen) and she blames herself, too. Jen had plastic surgery, lost weight and changed her last name so he doesn't recognize her. Jen always like Dave and now he's beginning to have feelings for her, too. There are several subplots going on between Jen being blackmailed and Dave having someone blackmail him into thinking they have his daughter. Sometimes Dave believes in Jen and then he turns around and thinks the worst of her. The ending is a real nailbiter! It has some technical terms but nothing that can't be figured out. The ending is really unexpected! I like Rachelle Ayala's books and this is different than her others for me, but I really liked it.
