Le Beau Nanda, texte daté autour de l'an 100 de notre ère, est un exemple de ce genre littéraire. Il narre la lente conversion au bouddhisme de Nanda, le demi-frère du Bouddha. Jusqu'alors non disponible en français, ce poème fait suite à La Vie du Bouddha et représente, dans un style recherché, un intéressant témoignage du moine bouddhiste Ashvaghosha.
