Advancements of AI in medical and biological sciences have opened new ways for drug development. Novel therapeutic molecules and their target action can be easily predicted and can be modified. AI helps in disease detection and diagnosis faster. The breakthrough of AI is made especially in the area of personalized precision medicine, host-pathogen interaction and predictive epidemiology. These approaches could help in faster decision-making with minimal errors that can improve risk analysis, especially disease diagnosis and selecting treatment strategy. In agricultural practices, an exact combination of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, soil management, water requirement analysis, yield prediction and overall crop management can be modified by implementing AI interventions. AI could provide a better improvement in agriculture, medical research, pharmaceuticals and bio-based industries for a sustainable life.

Giới thiệu tác giả

Dr P.V. Mohanan was a Fellow of National Academy of Science, India and Royal Society of Biologists, UK. He was a JSPS Post doctoral Fellow at the University of Tsukuba, Japan in the field of Neurotoxicity. As a toxicologist, he was associated with all the medical devices/technologies developed at SCTIMST (Government of India). He headed both the Division of Toxicology and Dept. of Applied Biology. Dr Mohanan was a member in the Empowered committee on the 'Rapid Response Regulatory Framework for COVID-19 to deal with applications for development of vaccines, diagnostics, prophylactics and therapeutics and an expert member in the statutory Committee, RCGM, DBT, New Delhi. Dr Mohanan also served as an expert member at the DST, SERB, DBT, ICMR, CSIR and FSSAI Scientific committees. He was an Expert member of the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization (JECFA), USA. He was a member in the Scientific Advisory Committee of ICMR-NARFBR, Hyderabad and a Visiting Professor and Visiting Researcher at Toyo University, Japan and also a Certified Biological Safety Specialist. Dr Mohanan was an Adjunct Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad and Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, India. He received a lifetime achievement award from the Society of Toxicology India for outstanding contribution in the field of toxicology. He patented an ELISA kit for the measurement of pyrogenicity. Dr Mohanan made significant contributions to the development of medical device regulations in India. He received a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India for his contribution to India getting full adherent status on GLP from OECD. He authored more than 300 publications, edited 10 books, 5 patent filed and 5 design registrations. He was the Secretary General of Society of Toxicology, India and Vice President, Kerala Academy of Sciences, India.
