The book Applied Microbiology is written focusing on core syllabus of states of India. The content of the subject is simple and lucid with suitable example, and neat diagrams. The book is also useful to students of biotechnology and pharmacy.

The book has a part of agriculture microbiology, which deals with soil structure, function in plant growth and development, and plant diseases and management. The part on Environmental microbiology covers the role of microorganisms, their importance in food safety and food production. The final part of the book deals in importance of microorganisms in production of chemicals and medicines needed for man. The contents are updated to make the students aware of the recent developments and acquire knowledge of allied subjects in capsule form. The review questions and further readings are also provided for self assessment and knowledge.

Reddy, S.M.

Dr. S.M. Reddy, Professor Emeritus (UGC), Department of Botany, Kakatiya University, is a recipient of Best Teacher Award by the Govt. of A.P. He authored/edited about 15 books of university education. His research work spans over wide areas of microbiology right from microbial diversity to microbial biotechnology. He guided 40 students for the Ph.D. degrees and published more than 400 original research papers in national and international journals. Successfully completed nearly 20 research projects sponsored by different funding agencies. He is a fellow of many academic societies and an active member of several academic bodies.

Girisham, S.
Dr. S. Girisham, Professor of Microbiology has a teaching experience for nearly two decades at UG & PG levels. His research fields include mycotoxins, H2 production from photosynthetic bacteria. He has handled 6 research projects funded by UGC, DBT, CSIR, AICTE etc. and has published 130 original research papers in national and international journals and guided 12 students for their Ph.D degree. He edited and authored 06 books for UG, PG & research students. He is a fellow of Indian Phytopathological Society, Indian Botanical Society and AP Academy of Sciences and an active member of many academic bodies.

Babu Narendra, G.
Dr. G. Narendra Babu obtained MSc., Ph.D degree from Osmania University and has more than 30 years of teaching experience to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. He has published many research papers in peer reviewed journals of international repute. He is a recipient of best teacher award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy, B. Vijaypal
Dr. B. Vijaypal Reddy is an Asst. Professor of Botany in Govt. Degree College, Telangana. He has obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Kakatiya University, Warangal. He has worked on fumonisins contamination and management of maize and sorghum (pre and post harvest stage). He has to his credit several research papers published in international journals.
