This book highlights the recent scientific and technological innovations of various optical and optoelectronic fibers based on different functional structures and materials. Advanced optical and optoelectronic fibers locate at the intersection of many disciplines ranging from optical waveguides, optoelectronics, material engineering, micro/nanofabrication, and neural interfaces to wearable devices. The book covers the major developments on fiber materials, such as semiconductors, metals, polymers, and soft glasses, as well as novel in-fiber structures. Different functionalities are also summarized, including sensing, light guidance, lasing, and material engineering toward full system integration. O autoru
Dr. Lei Wei is an associate professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His main research interests are fiber-based devices, fiber sensors, multi-functional fibers, bio-fiber interfaces, and in-fiber energy generation and storage. Dr. Wei has published 1 book, 3 book chapters, and over 300 journal and conference papers. He serves as the director of Centre for Optical Fibre Technology (COFT) at Nanyang Technological University. He also serves as the chairman of the IEEE Photonics Society Singapore Chapter and the chair of the Optica Singapore Section.
