About this audiobook

For fans of Emily Henry, a debut about a rom-com screenwriter who doesn't believe in love and a divorce attorney who does, forced together at their high school reunion fifteen years after their breakup

"Christine Lakin and Tim Paige deliver a fun, sexy, and relatable romance."—AudioFile

Molly Marks writes Hollywood rom-coms for a living—which is how she knows “romance” is a racket. The one and only time she was naive enough to fall in love was with her high school boyfriend, Seth—who she ghosted on the eve of graduation and hasn’t seen in fifteen years.

Seth Rubinstein believes in love, the grand, fated kind, despite his job as, well...one of Chicago’s most successful divorce attorneys. Over the last decade, he’s sought “the one” in countless bad dates and rushed relationships. He knows his soulmate is out there. But so far, no one can compare to Molly Marks, the first girl who broke his heart.

When Molly’s friends drag her to Florida for their fifteenth high school reunion, it is poetic justice that she’s forced to sit with Seth. Too many martinis and a drunken hookup later, they decide to make a bet: whoever can predict the fate of five couples before the next reunion must declare that the other is right about true love. The catch? The fifth couple is the two of them.

Molly assures Seth they are a tale of timeless heartbreak. Seth promises she’ll end up hopelessly in love with him. She thinks he’s delusional. He has five years to prove her wrong.

Wickedly funny, sexy, and brimming with laughs and heart like the best romantic comedies, Just Some Stupid Love Story is for everyone who believes in soulmates—even if they would never admit it.

A Macmillan Audio production from Flatiron Books.

Molly is a self-described class b*tch who doesn’t believe in love. While Seth is sunshiny and a hopeless romantic. I love that Molly is the grumpier one and owns it. Their relationship went on quite a journey. They had a brutal high school breakup. And reunite at the 15-year high school reunion, but things don’t immediately turn into sunshine. Things still took some time. It was at a very realistic pace. It did cover a time through COVID, which wasn’t to my liking but can be moved past.

𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙘𝙤𝙢 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥. 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙯𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨. Molly has a jaded relationship with love due to her father’s actions toward her mother when she was young. Seth, her high school boyfriend, is a hopeless romantic, who was absolutely devastated when she broke up with him on the last day of school. Cut to their 15 year HS reunion, they meet again, they hook up, and then they make a wager predicting the fates of five couple’s relationships over the next 5 years. When I started up this book, I found myself laughing out loud so much. Molly is so sarcastic and jaded. I loved her. I saw a lot myself in her, and the banter she could get up to with Seth was right up my alley. Seth is the epitome of a cinnamon roll MMC. He is dying to find his soul mate, but no one will ever live up to Molly. The story takes place over a few years, with missed connections, a lot of growth on both their parts, and Covid. I actually enjoyed how the Covid years impacted the story, without being overwhelming, and just feeling “real”. I had a great time with these characters, and even though it dealt with some heavy and true-to-life topics, I still had such a great time reading it. Audiobook notes: I always enjoy Tim Paige’s narration, and that was just as true here. Christine Lakin was a new-to-me narrator, but I thought she did a fabulous job. Definitely recommend the audio of this one. Thank you to @macmillan.audio for providing me an ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review. What this book is giving: ✅ Romantic comedy ✅ Dual POV ✅ Second Chance ✅ High School Sweethearts ✅ Romcom Screenwriter/ Love Skeptic FMC ✅ Divorce Attorney/ Hopeless Romantic ✅ Wager

Oh wow, what a marvelous surprise Katelyn Doyle's Just Some Stupid Love Story turned out to be!!! I kind of wish they'd named the book something else, just because that title really doesn't do the story justice. The pretty cover caught my eye, so thankfully there's that. These characters... just wonderful. There's terrific chemistry between the MCs, really interesting drama between the family members and the friends, love found and love lost.
