Similar to Haggai, the book of Zechariah was written at this time to urge the Judeans to rebuild their temple and redeem themselves with God. Zechariah has a more encouraging and hopeful tone than Haggai, and contains some of the most descriptive and beautiful Messianic prophecies in the Bible.
