Upon the death of her mother, Mark Rocklin learns of Allyn, the daughter he didn't know existed. He asks a friend to bring her to Gracefield. Upon her arrival, she is treated well, but cannot seem to make a place for herself with the Rocklins or her father. Hoping to help his daughter, Mark buys a plantation for her, with the requirement that she marry for the property to be put in her name.
