An adult novel with a combination of historical and scientific literature circling back to the modern Opioid Crisis. Smith attempts to explain his family going from a somewhat "normal" life to a drug induced hell. In his teenage years both parents become addicted to drugs and alcohol. Particularly, his father battles with a heroin addiction. The story comes from the not so common outside point of view of a child growing up watching the degradation of his family due to opioids in America. All this brought together with an analytical description of historical and modern characteristics of opioids.
