Whilst living in Echuca, Philadelphia Gordon has developed a strong attachment to the river, and a fascination for paddle steamers. When she becomes the owner of a paddle steamer she wishes that she had been born a male and not bound by the conventions society imposes upon females. When Delie meets a young handsome riverman, Brenton Edwards, she falls hopelessly in love with him. However, the future is not the idyll she had foreseen. 關於作者

Nancy Cato (1917–2000) spent her working life in the literary field – as a poet, novelist and reporter on an Adelaide daily paper. In 1984 she was made a member of the Order of Australia.

Kate Hosking is an Australian performer who has been narrating audiobooks for over 20 years. Her titles range from teenage fiction to adult non-fiction and everything in between. She is a musician, theatre performer and educator.
