關於這本有聲書

Upton Sinclair was a man in search of truth, in search of knowledge, in search of a good story, and forever in search of good health. Sinclair had many chronic ailments during his life and was always looking for new ways to improve his wellbeing. He experimented with and explored all the trends and new ideas of the early 20th century. Sinclair spent years as a vegetarian after researching the meat packing industry for his bestselling 1906 exposé, The Jungle. He learned about fasting to improve digestion and a host of other maladies. In this book he summarized and popularized the research of contemporaries who were pioneers in the movement for self-health, while passing on his personal experiences. This is not a book of medical advice and should not be read as such. It is collected wisdom and anecdotal evidence from 100+ years ago.

關於作者

Upton Beall Sinclair Jr. (1878–1968) was an American author, muckraker, and political activist, and the 1934 Democratic Party nominee for governor of California. Sinclair’s work was well known and popular in the first half of the 20th century. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1943. In 1906, The Jungle exposed labor and sanitary conditions in the US meatpacking industry, causing a public uproar that led to the 1906 Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act. It was his research for The Jungle that led to his devotion to fasting.
