Annie Ashworth is on maternity leave from her police job, enjoying spending time with baby Alfie. Her days at home might lack excitement, but after all of the horrific crimes she’s witnessed, that’s fine with her.

But when she starts having strange dreams – dreams that turn out to be linked to a local murder – she can’t stop herself from digging. There’s an eerie connection to a serial killer from the 1950s, and Annie fears that the same dark forces are back.

And maybe it’s just new-mum tiredness playing tricks on her, but she’s been noticing a cold presence lingering around Alfie late at night. Could her baby be the target of whatever evil is haunting them? And will she have what it takes to protect him?
