What Is Synthetic Intelligence
An alternate or opposite name for artificial intelligence is synthetic intelligence (SI), which emphasizes that the intelligence of machines does not have to be an imitation or artificial in any sense, but rather, it can be a true type of intelligence. John Haugeland makes a comparison between synthetic diamonds and simulated diamonds, arguing that only the synthetic diamond can be considered a genuine diamond.
