On the January 6, 2017, intelligence agencies briefed Donald Trump about Russia's role in getting him elected as a president. Further, then FBI Director James Comey let him know that the intelligence agencies also had material to indicate that Trump had joined forces with Moscow for this turn of events since Russian entities had blackmailed him with the help of the footage they had of him with prostitutes and other stuff. However, this scandal went way back. Trump had sought business deals in Russia and this even went on during the initial months of his presidential campaign. This left an impact on how Trump would interact with Putin.
