βA truly inspirational story about finding the courage to face your fearsβ β Mel Darbon
Jonah is Rioβs big brother. Itβs his job. It always has been. Especially when Mam does one of her disappearing acts, like now. Her nameβs Marina, which means βfrom the seaβ. And just like the sea: she changes with the wind. She comes, she goes.
The sea was there the last time Jonah and Rio saw her. The Whitby Sea. And it wasnβt in a good mood. No-one has seen Mam since that day and the social workers say . . . sheβs not coming back this time.
Susanna Bailey divides her time between writing and lecturing in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University.
Susanna wrote Snow Foal during her time at the same university where she drew much inspiration from her tutor, award-winning author David Almond. She went on to be awarded an MA in Writing for Young People.
Snow Foal was shortlisted for the Joan Aitken Future Classics Prize, given an honorary mention in the United Agents/Bath Spa University Prize for the same year and longlisted for the Blue Peter Book Prize.
Her second book, Otterβs Moon won the Gold Made For Mums 2021 award. Raven Winter is her latest novel, publishing in late 2021.
