Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants

This book is everything I could have hoped for and more! The way she speaks of plants, you can tell she loves them and builds good relationships with the plants she knows. I love listening to this book when I'm driving long distances looking at the scenery and hearing her talk of the places she's been and describes the ecosystems around her. She says she enjoys poetry and plants and you can tell with every sentence. It feels like love poems to Shkagamik kwe (Mother earth). I also love the bits of history sprinkled in along the way. Put simply, every time I opened this book (or opened my ears to the audiobook) my perspective cracked wide open. Admittedly this took me much longer to finish than I'm willing to admit, but I know this is because I wanted to let every single word and concept to work their way into my being. I know this will be a resource I'll return to again and again, and will continually find new nuggets of knowledge. This book is a warm, prolonged hug for the heart, mind, and soul. Thank you.
