About this audiobook

A new recording of Ray Bradbury’s timeless classic Fahrenheit 451 narrated by Penn Badgley!

Nearly seventy years after its original publication, Ray Bradbury’s internationally acclaimed novel Fahrenheit 451 stands as a classic of world literature set in a bleak, dystopian future. Today its message has grown more relevant than ever before.

Guy Montag is a fireman. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television “family.” But when he meets an eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse, who introduces him to a past where people didn’t live in fear and to a present where one sees the world through the ideas in books instead of the mindless chatter of television, Montag begins to question everything he has ever known.

I read this in high-school, about 9 years ago. But now I've heard it, and know it better. The narrator spoke well, with as much or as little force was needed at each point. The entire book was easily audible, and the books' contents themselves spoke volumes about the world. I get its references and meanings better now than I used to. If you read this book before, but it's been a while, I urge you to give it another go. see what you hear better now that you're listening. If you haven't read it, I beg you to do so. try to hear its meanings, the pictures painted in metaphor. Have a lovely day. Read Quality. Take time to process it, then make your own decisions. The future is yours, no matter when you start.
