About this audiobook

The thrilling follow-up to the New York Times bestselling novel One Second After

Months before publication, One Second After was cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at the dangers of EMPs. An EMP is a weapon with the power to destroy the entire United States in a single act of terrorism, in a single second; indeed, it is a weapon that the Wall Street Journal warns could shatter America. One Second After was a dire warning of what might be our future ... and our end.

One Year After returns to the small town of Black Mountain and the man who struggled to rebuild it in the wake of devastation: John Matherson. It is a thrilling follow-up and should delight fans in every way.

I found the story deeply enthralling and emotional. I laughed and cried. I cringed only once or twice at very forgivable/understandable conservative premises of the author. The auther does a masterful job threading all the political landmines here, sticking to character and story development. The antagonist is complex, the protagonist is relatable. The world illustrated is colorful and, somehow, it's the small town you already know... gtg. I'm off to improve my emergency supplies. Just in case;)

Good follow up to One Second After but some of the magic is lost with the new reader. Everyone suddenly has a thick southern accent but John is supposed to be from the New England area. I wish they had gotten Joe Barrett back.

One Second After is a better survival type book, however, One Year After held me in and was very thrilling. I only wish the readers were the same. you get used to the voices after awhile though.
