About this audiobook

The Prince is a 16th-century political treatise by the Italian diplomat and political theorist Niccolo Machiavelli. From correspondence a version appears to have been distributed in 1513, using a Latin title, De Principatibus (Of Principalities). However, the printed version was not published until 1532, five years after Machiavelli's death. This was done with the permission of the Medici pope Clement VII, but "long before then, in fact since the first appearance of The Prince in manuscript, controversy had swirled about his writings". Although it was written as if it were a traditional work in the mirrors for princes style, it is generally agreed that it was especially innovative. Niccolò Machiavelli, belongs to such prominent Florentines as Dante Alighieri, Petrarch, Giovanni Boccaccio, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli

I'm sure the book is great, but the narrator is infuriating and almost unbearable to listen to. He sounds like he's speaking with a mouthful of spit the entire time. There's often times no emphasis in sentences where there should be, or emphasis where it's not necessary, and occasionally some words are oddly pronounced or with lacking enunciation that I find myself having to repeatedly rewind the audio to understand what the author's message is. I am literally halfway through this audio book, and I could not for the life of me tell you what has been said thus far because my mind is continually focused on how the narrator is saying it, rather than what is being said. 2 stars because it's not the Author's fault.

I don't mess with E books because it's for lazy people who want to throw a pair of headphones on & just listen but I'd rather pick up an actual book with pages & read the old fashion way!
