Based on exclusive and unrestricted access to more than 5,000 pages of personal writings and family photos, this definitive biography of German physician and SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Josef Mengele (1911–1979) probes the personality and motivations of Auschwitz's "Angel of Death." From May 1943 through January 1945, Mengele selected who would be gassed immediately, who would be worked to death, and who would serve as involuntary guinea pigs for his spurious and ghastly human experiments (twins were Mengele's particular obsession). With authority and insight, Mengele examines the entire life of the world's most infamous doctor.

Gerald Posner received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1975 and a law degree from Hastings Law School in 1978. He was one of the youngest attorneys ever hired by the Wall Street law firm of Cravath, Swaine and Moore. He co-founded the New York law firm Posner and Ferrara. He is the author of more than ten books including Killing the Dream: James Earl Ray and the Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK, and God's Bankers: A History of Money and Power at the Vatican.
Producer and author John Ware lives in London.
Bruce Mann is an award-winning voice artist and actor. He was born in the U.K. and now lives in California. His awards include several AudioFile Earphones Awards, two Audie nominations, and an AudioFile Excellence Award.
