Fuzzy mindedness is just as likely to attack our feelings — the emotional part of us — as it is our brains. Feelings tend all the time to be vague and irresponsible; and that means that they are more likely to lead us off on a wrong scent. They must somehow be subjected to the same clearing process as our thoughts; they must be sifted, judged, criticised. But it is even more puzzling to get at them effectively, because they seem to be so intensely a part of our very nature; we cannot separate them from us easily, and put them under inspection.
