Long-Winded Setup With Little Payoff I’ve enjoyed the Overlord series up to this point, especially the Holy Kingdom and Dwarven Kingdom arcs, but Volume 15 felt like a huge misstep. The voice acting is solid as always—no complaints there—but the content of this volume is weak at best. This book drags through four hours of slow, uneventful setup with almost no payoff. There’s little world-building, no significant character development, and it adds almost nothing of value to the overall narrative. Honestly, it felt like filler. The pacing was painfully slow, and instead of meaningful political or ethical dilemmas about leading a kingdom, we get tedious exposition with no real depth. One positive moment was when the Overlord himself finally set a clear boundary—refusing food and calling out people for disregarding his needs. That showed growth and awareness we hadn’t really seen before. But it was a rare bright spot in an otherwise dull experience. On top of that, there’s a disturbing subplot involving a character with an inappropriate fixation on children. It's uncomfortable, and the story fails to outright condemn it, which is both irresponsible and frustrating. Overall, this volume feels like it was rushed out just to make money or stall for time before the next major arc. If you’re a fan of the series, you could honestly skip this one and not miss much.
