On the positive side, the audiobook is easy to listen to, suggesting good narration quality. The believable emotional vulnerability implies well-developed characters that resonate with listeners. Fun fighting scenes and sidekick animals add an enjoyable and entertaining dimension to the story, potentially appealing to those who love dynamic action and magical creatures. On the downside, the magic system is described as a bit confusing, which might detract from the overall experience for listeners who prefer a more clearly defined magical framework. However, it remains fun, indicating that while it's complex, it doesn't severely hinder the enjoyment of the book. Overall, "Silver Spells" seems to offer an engaging listening experience, especially for those who enjoy character-driven narratives with whimsical and adventurous elements.

Actual Rating: 2.5☆ Silver Spells is a cozy paranormal fantasy featuring a group of middle-aged best friends who begin gaining strange powers. Luella was fired from a company where she dedicated years of her life without reason. To make things stranger, Luella suddenly gains access to windy abilities, grows a pair of angel-like wings, and a mysterious dog appears that only Luella and her friends can see. The story was okay but not for me. It never held my full attention, and I was a bit bored. I thought the magical mystery dog was a unique touch to the story that I enjoyed. I also always enjoy a hint of romance in my paranormal reads. There were a few parts that confused me like the reason why Luella was fired. I wasn't the target audience for this story, but if you're looking for a fun paranormal women's fiction with a middle-aged FMC who proves that it's never too late to start over, this may be for you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Silver Spells by Kate Moseman absolutely enchanted me. I loved the plot from start to finish—clever, fresh, and paced just right to keep me hooked without overwhelming me. What really stood out was the later-in-life age of the main characters. It’s such a refreshing and underrepresented perspective in fantasy, and Moseman nailed it with depth and relatability. There’s just enough intrigue and suspense woven throughout to keep things interesting, but never too heavy. And by the time I hit the last page, I was immediately hungry for the next book—always the mark of a good series! Also… can we finally celebrate a heroine with wind powers who can ACTUALLY FLY? Thank you, Kate Moseman. Thank you. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys cozy magic, mature leads, and a touch of mystery with their spells.
