In a bustling settlement of blood-sucking shapeshifters and sentient machines, some people are not what they seem.

Yaya is a highly advanced humanoid machine working to earn the final certificate that will make her the guardian of the orphaned daughter of her creator. Eager to prove herself, she takes on a mission to determine if the village's newest tofu vendor is an Aswang - a dark creature that masquerades as a human but drinks human blood.

This is a daunting task for Yaya. Failure means she will lose all her previous credentials, although that is not the worst of it. Mistaking a human for an aswang means bringing pain and shame to the innocent. Mistaking aswang for humans meant allowing dangerous creatures to roam free.
